Our 2006 circular

Peter: After a year and a half of retirement: projects completed not as many as planned, but the postman-discarded red rubberband ball is progressing well. Projects on the to-do list more than before. Just the time, then, to call in the builders to start alterations: garage split into two rooms: new kitchen with everything in a different place from before.

Canalling: Sojourn on the Kennet&Avon Canal this year with the highlight trip around Bristol Harbour. Just the sixteen weeks afloat including one on IWA’s nbJubilee through Standedge Tunnel to Thorne. Lots of mental energy expended on boat administration and its intricacies.
Elaine: When not providing expert assistance to the builder, still part-time on sewer modelling consultancy and courses; the Wastewater Network Planner Competency Guide now published for the benefit of all. Tatting, spinning, bobbin lace still waiting to be finished. Organised the Lavender Boat at IWA rally near Reading; pictured with a really BIG funnel in IWA Waterways. Two more seconds of fame on BBC news-at-10 demonstrating against the DEFRA cuts of waterways spending. www.saveourwaterways.co.uk

Ringing: One special handbell peal and a couple of dozen quarters. That course of Yorkshire Major in hand is sure to come round one day... Try this sort-of upside-down extent of bob minor: (bppsppbppppbbsbbpppp)*3

Talks, etc: Waterway talks to about three IWA meetings: Ringing talks to Sheffield school groups, brownies, InnerWheel: a couple of Tatting events, not to mention the Sewer courses: all kept the voiceboxes lubricated. A handbell course and some handbell change ringing performances to bemused audiences all keep the braincells working.

Iain: Job in Warrington modelling sewers still paying the rent. Hasn’t stopped reading or reading with some occasional ringing. Survived borrowing seventyfoot of our boat for the weekend. Growing more like his father !
