Peter and Elaine's Christmas Greetings 2011
Peter steering Copperkins
Canalling: 121 days afloat including day trips on Lake Windermere and watching the tide flood up over the weir (and going through the lock on the level) at Teddington on the Thames.

Took Odyssey through Standedge Tunnel's three miles and backwards for a mile and a half to a lock too short for us. After four years of looking for a buyer, sold our share to the other owners.

Copperkins covered the newly restored Droitwich canals - via the Avon, having done them in the other direction in Fulbourne. And Thames tideway to Barking Creek then upriver through Thames Barrier again to Brentford: engine decided to dislike its fuel and stopped, requiring some breasting-up while clearing a filter with Henry's electric toothbrush. Towed butty Angel to Braunston from Burton-on-Trent. Did Hatton together

Peter: Those 150,000 digital canal pictures need classifying, from which all the canalling committee meetings are an interesting diversion. Even more constructive was converting a disused doorway into a bookcase...

Elaine: Certificated at last – for 20 years service on the Lavender boat. Still bonnetted. Tower Captain, Chairman of WestRiding IWA, … leaves not enough time for the new spinning wheel or tidying the sewing room, tatting weaving sewing crochet, etc.

Ringing: More talks to local groups has more people understanding why change ringers don't ring tunes. We need more ringers, and less need of this 189 PB doubles: bpppbpppbppbpbpppb(p)
