Our 2007 circular

Canalling: Interesting night floating eight foot above the towpath in the Sheffield floods: see here and some more pictures here then visiting Copperkins daily for 5 weeks until the canal was open again. Much enjoyed an earlier trip to Liverpool. Our 70’ boatshare is now more upmarket: Fulbourne, Took Odyssey to StIves via tidal GreatOuse as a farewell trip. Anyone for boatshare? Snip at the price and some pictures.

Peter: two years of retirement, could enjoy meetings once more so now chairman of Inland Waterways Association West Riding Branch. Interesting trip through Standedge tunnel with British Waterways was one result, and another to the World Canal Conference. But less time to plan the next layer of the post-office rubber-band-ball which is expanding nicely, and then there’s the utility room to finish

Ringing: Just the four evening practices each week, Southampton University’s Annual Dinner, weekly Sunday ringing, Whirlow training course, and a stream of learners to teach at Ranmoor - all keeps us busy. Not so many handbells at the moment. Try this Triples principle: it needs a bob, a band, a composition, and maybe a name: 3131357575

Talks: The Brownies ringing talk is well rehearsed, some sewers for Inner Wheel, and Waterway pictures - all keep the voices in practice.

Elaine: Still part-time on Scott-Harty sewer modelling courses. Lavender Boat at IWA rally at StIves this year. Tatting, spinning, bobbin lace, a cross-stitch kneeler, and a crocheted earmuff for a model horse all waiting to be finished. Joined Peter on the IWA committee.

Iain: Job still in Warrington modelling sewers and can walk to work. Hasn’t stopped reading or reading with some occasional ringing. Survived borrowing seventyfoot of our boat for the weekend again. Growing hats more like his father

Other pictures: Fulbourne on the Aylesbury Arm, and Copperkins after the flood with the Sheffield Keel in the distance at a crazy angle. ...

And Even More pictures: Pat and Ted, who both died during the year, and a commemmoration of Mike Stevens, waterways personality, who also died. The IWA National AGM was in Norwich, and John Fletcher, National Chairman also visited a West Riding meeting. Odyssey's return through Salters' Lode after the National Rally at St Ives. Passing Humber Renown in Castlesford Cut. Aftermath of the Sheffield floods at Eastwood and some of the hazards on the return journey, Appley Bridge Locks, a walk on the Barnsley Canal; Ice and Snow after the Ownerships' show. The Bellringing training weekend at Whirlow Grange, Ranmoor ringers' feast, and the SUGCR Dinner Day tour.
