Here are a few photographs from the Leicester Ring trip: a week starting on Saturday 7th July 1973 on two seventyfoot narrowboats nbBittern and nbGreylag from Willow Wren Hire Cruisers in Rugby, with the occasional stop for some ringing.

Particularly memorable was nbGreylag being propelled into a lock by too-early paddle-opening: banging the cill: people falling on top of one another in the kitchen: saucepan of boiling water teetering on the edge of the cooker above them ... where fortunately it stayed.

The Dinner was on Saturday 10th November 1973. The afternoon Tour visited Droxford, Shedfield and Curdridge. The dinner was at the Royal Hotel Southampton. Canon Kenneth W H Felstead was President.

No ringing, but it was a remote place in those days. Excellent place to be married: Peter and Elaine Scott on Saturday 29June 1974. The Guild was well represented in the wedding party: pity about the rope breaking in the morning's peal attempt.

The camera had malfunctioned this summer: as in had failed to be put together successfully after being dismantled to fix a shutter problem. This is a collection of Elaine Scott's and John Knight's prints, converted some years later to colourslides and lately scanned in: also some original colourslides from Andrew Nicol, copied to another set of colourslides, and lately also scanned in. Thanks to all.

Hence or Otherwise, yes that is Elaine working Atherstone locks for a submarine. Of sorts.
