Here are a few scanned colourslides from the 1991 annual dinner. It was Derek C Jackson's first year of his second term as Guild President. (Derek was the Guild's first occupant of the post now titled "Guild Master", which in those early days was the office of President).

The Guest Speaker was his immediate predecessor, Canon Kenneth W H Felstead, who had finally insisted on retiring as the Guild's Life-President, on moving to his retirement home. He reminisced of his time in Southampton immediately after the war, teaching in the then University College, and as Guild President; it's hard to remember whether he featured the oft-repeated tale of beerdrinking-and-ringing ending with the punchline "he couldn't wring a dishcloth", nor whether this talk reminded us that he was the first ringer ever to make a single in a peal of Surprise Royal. He certainly brought, as he always did, his book summarising all the peals rung in each tower in the country.
