Peter and Elaine's Christmas Greetings 2016
On a PC (best to view): some of the links are to a single picture (see, enjoy, press the back button) and some to a slideshow of 100 pictures or more (watch and press the back button TWICE to return) and a few youtube videos: (press the back button to return here). From a tablet or phone or PC without 'Flash' in its browser, the slideshows need to use the subsequent 'here' link: then there is usually an arrow icon at the middle right of each picture to press to move on to the next. On a few, a bit of tapping persistence will bring an arrow inside a circle to do this job, and with these, dropdown menu at the top right has an item for a slideshow. In either case the browser back button pressed twice will return here. Enjoy!
Elaine in hat with THE BARGEE behind
Elaine: A last attendance as retired sewer- modeller at November conference in Blackpool, ended up as just-one-more-time next year. Still Ranmoor bellringers' Tower Captain and IWA West Riding branch (p42) Chairman and newsletter editor with some tatting on the journeys-in-between. The boating and ringing schedule works around a Tuesday evening practice (and in t' pub afterwards), of which we managed all-but-eight during the year.
Peter: Canalling meetings (Inland Waterways Association trustee and Canal & River Trust NorthEast Waterways Partnership) fills time between canal trips, marvelling at post-referendum direction, and, unrelatedly, surprise at having forever been an Irish citizen (paternal birthplace was Cork).

Remembering Jo Cox, campaigner, boater, Member of Parliament.

Boxing Day 2015 flood damage on the Calder and Hebble Canal
TV: John Sergeant's Barging Round Britain had our small contribution from last year's filming at about 10m45s. Also a legacy from 2015 was the many-millions of flood damage in the Calder valley and some (not-on-camera) boating for The One Show, much of the effort was on persuading Andy Kershaw's dog to be photogenic.

NotTV: was a trip to evaluate some of the damage to the navigation, its structures and its boats.

Canalling: Our 125 days afloat 1206 miles and 1008 locks needed 34 separate trips-from-home and 21 different boats to visit the waterway outposts of Dunoon, Falkirk, Stockton-on-Tees, Sheffield, London, Southampton, Liverpool, Knott End and Tewitfield (via the Ribble Link). Of which the flotilla, led by Kennet, to Liverpool for the bicentenary of the opening of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was most noticed by the communities we passed, with mayors, schools, and bells all supporting the event and surrounding jollifications. Both Fulbourne and Copperkins needed attentions of welders to keep them afloat and going along.

Delivering a mirrored door
Home: 88 nights on boats and just over a month's-worth in hotels or with the family, leaving two-thirds of the nights at home, to look at ourselves in new Sliderobes mirrored-doors. The car managed 31 days on the drive without going anywhere, and here's a walk around Crosspool at New Year 2016. And later

Ringing: More handbell ringing than usual this year, including being persuaded into a peal; collecting three more bells to expand our set to 45 bells, the bellfoundry immediately announced t hat it was closing down. Not our fault we say.

Tutored and Helped at the two Yorkshire Association Weekend Ringing Courses at Harrogate and Storthes Hall which may be the last time they are run in this format. Maybe some of that is our fault in various ways. Ranmoor ringing and events continued: also rang with Southampton University Guild, at the annual dinner for the 45th consecutive year, and they featured us on the front page of 'their' Ringing World. Also rang with Sheffield Cathedral band and for Trent and Mersey Canal.

Try the (rightly-)neglected Plain Bob Triples and this 238 changes: (4;I,H;M,sH). Or try this.

Iain looking quizzical
Iain: has been ringing a hundred quarter-peals this year, and when not doing that, still lives and works in Warrington.
