Peter and Elaine's Christmas Greetings 2017
For our regular viewers some DIFFERENT viewing instructions this year. There are still a few links to a single picture or web resource (see, enjoy, press the back button) and some to an album of 100 pictures or more (either expand the top-right drop-down menu - three vertical dots - then click the "slideshow" option - may need to click on one of the pictures first OR having clicked on the first picture, then navigate through with the right-arrow to the right and middle of the picture. Return with the browser back button) and a few youtube videos: (press the back button to return here). If I have failed to get your best side in any of the pictures, please email and I'll remove you from public view. Enjoy!
TV: Just the two appearances this year: an interview aboard Copperkins for BBC East Midlands (while at IWA Festival at Ilkeston) and Elaine steering Fulbourne in BBC's "Britain Afloat", "The Narrow Boat" episode.

Home: Still in Crosspool with 85 nights away on boats, and the car managing 40 days on the drive without going anywhere. Garden tidying still high on the list of things that are just-about-to-be-done, and helpful neighbour-cooperation has transformed our kitchen-view and the boundary fences. New Grass to replace a hedge needs even more mowing, pushing that tidying further down the list.
IWA Rally
Peter and Hat Peter: Just 55,000 camera-clicks this year; volunteered for some work on Bellringing Rules (after 400 years, bellringers need some new ones) and Canalling meetings (Inland Waterways Association trustee and Canal & River Trust NorthEast Waterways Partnership) filling time between canal (photo-)trips. Need some new skills to remain occupied when retired from all this. We attended brilliant (apostrophe-correct) cousins' wedding in August.
Elaine: The Approaching Birthday had proper retirement from IWA West Riding branch Chairman (although still editor of 'Milepost') and from the sewer-modeller's annual conference. Still Ranmoor bellringers' Tower Captain for one-more-year and the ringing schedule continues around Tuesday evening practices with some tatting on all the journeys-in-between.

Kelpies in Falkirk Canalling: Our 125 days afloat and 1501 miles needed 33 separate trips-from-home and 28 different boats to visit the waterway outposts of Ripon, OlympicPark, LittleVencie, LangleyMill, Stourport, Llangollen, Glasgow, LittleBaddow, Liverpool and Knowle via a diversion for an unexploded WW2 bomb. We visited Penkridge and Hazelhurst with Spring Dew and the Braunston Historic Rally with Fulbourne, which also, via Loughborough and Nottingham reached Lincoln. Copperkins engine needed attentions of removers and associated gearbox- menders, and lots of associated pounds. Highlight was a night on a hireboat viewing the illuminated Kelpies to celebrate Elaine's Significant Birthday. There are many ways of Being Afloat! Reminds us of past visits to canal extremeties.
Ringing: Ben's anniversary Quarter-Peal (right) needed some rehearsals to remind him how best to ring handbells, and it made the 'top spot' on the Ringing World's Bellboard-entries-of-the-week. SUGCR Dinner is always a highlight. Ranmoor events included: Tour, Heritage Open Day and Christmas Nibbles. Continued teaching new ringers, in various roles and at different towers.

Elaine tried some extra carol handbell tunes this year. Peter was persuaded into his tenth peal, and as Seasonal encouragement to fellow-ringers: try this six-bell principle, which is 3-leads of Bob Minor with just one "X.16" omitted, to give 6x34=204changes.

Iain visit Iain: joined us for the Significant- Birthday canalling in Scotland and when not doing that, still lives and works in Warrington in between ringing and his duties as Master of the Welsh Colleges' Society of Change Ringers.
